Personal Development – 3 Interesting Personal Development Topics

There’s an entire world of info out there on self help, some of it great and some of it not-as-good.

The barrier separating quality from hustle appears to come down to the efforts of any personal development system to keep itself from touching on reality.

Flawed personal development systems work only in a world where external effects don’t happen, where nothing can push you off the trail, and where every decision is one hundred pc sane.

As nice as this world would be, it’s completely rarely the case. All of us are flawed folks, and that’s's a great thing. By embracing these issues we open the doors to real improvement.

Here are 3 interesting personal development topics and truths :

1: The loudest voice is not always the best.

There are hundreds of systems out there promising to make you a more developed person, each claiming that they are the best and brightest out there. They are not. Sure, some of them are great, but there isn’t any way that the can all be the best.

This means that you need to target finding a system that works for you and separating it from the ocean of junk. There is quality out there, it just needs some looking and micro-testing.

2: Ignore what does it for everybody, and focus on what does it for you.

in a similar fashion to the most important and brightest voice not always being the best, the most well liked system isn’t necessarily the most efficient and effective.

If you want a guaranteed personal development system, you need to experiment with what works for you and what doesn’t .

Invest a bit of time in different schools of thought and plans of attack, and evaluate what works and what does not.

3: Biases exist everywhere, particularly in personal development topics.
You are never going to flee peoples’ biases entering into their advice, and you want to fortify and insulate yourself from having this effect your personal development.

Again, target what works, not what appears to be the best and commended.

*Important Note* => Do you have the courage to achieve what you want in life?

Life & Time

Today I realized that life lives within time and so we have to treat time with respect and not squander it. I was reflecting on the fact that we all have a battery” so to speak with a certain amount of energy. If we are not careful we can waste most of it on unnecessary, irrelevant and insignificant things. We all have a final destiny that we have in common; death. So, we know that we will one day, all of us in our own time, move on to the next dimension of life whatever that might be to each of us. When I realized this Truth about life, I reflected on how I was utilizing my “battery” and discovered I was not as balanced mentally, physically and spiritually as I should be. So I took the personal assessment that is on my site so I can see where I stood regarding how I was managing my life. Gosh…well…I have some “house cleaning” to do in all three departments. I try to maintain a certain balance so that I can ride the tide of life rather than drown in it. So at the moment I am treading water but now I know where the adjustments need to be made. I don’t want to run out juice you know before my mission on earth is complete. Do you?

Boy, I am definitely guilty of wasting my time on things that are not suppose to be on my plate in the first plate. The funny thing is that I am usually the one who puts things on my plate that were intended for someone elses. When you find yourself looking at your TO DO list and you start sweating, you know it is time to get back to the basics. Even though I wrote a book on life management doesn’t mean I don’t struggle along with our clients. We are human and sometimes life forces it’s will on us. That is when you have to remind yourself that it is YOUR life and you can choose which way to turn the sails of your ship so that you can take advantage of the wind instead of ending up winded and shipwrecked. Just remember to look for the “lighthouse”, your Spirit, to beam clarity for you to follow. All it takes is some introspection, taking a step or two back and taking a deep breathe as you wait to for the insight or the revelation you need to manifest.

I am the President of the SELF, INC. Life Program. I authored a Handbook about the Program about 10 years ago. So I dusted it off, added some insights that I have gained in the last 10 years or so and I am committed to “paying it forward” by spreading the message that: “You need to love yourself first. Only then can you truly love enough to manifest singificant PERSONAL SUCCESS in your life.” I decided to share my articles so I can perhaps offer up any insight that I have gained and continue to gain, as a student of life, on how to manage our personal worlds. Lastly, I want to be contribute to a community of people that are commited to personal enlightenment, who want to be enlightened, or just want to find the darn light.

Overcoming Low Self Esteem is Easy With a Binaural Beats Download

Overcoming low self esteem is a battle if you only engage in activities while in a the conscious state of mind. Most suggestions for improving self confidence involve making a continuous series of positive affirmations while your mind is in conscious state. The problem is that this does not address the root problems that exist in the subconscious mind. A binaural beats download is the boost to meditation to access the subconscious mind to make positive changes.

The subconscious mind is a very powerful force. It controls nearly 90% of our daily activities, most of the time with us not even being aware of it. The subconscious is composed of years of conditioning and experiences. If we have been constantly challenged on self-esteem, all of this negative experience is stored in the subconscious. Trying to make changes while in the conscious state only scratches the surface of our psyche and does not alter the foundations rooted in the subconscious.

Meditation is a way to enter the subconscious and make the necessary changes. This is a process of slowing brainwave activity from the high alert state of beta into the meditative frequency ranges of alpha and theta. When brainwave frequency is lowered to alpha and theta, you can open the door to subconscious and begin to remove the negative thoughts that have accumulated over the years.

The problem with meditation is that it has to be learned through instruction and can take hours of practice in order to get real results. A shortcut for more effective meditation is to listen to a binaural beats download while in a relaxed state.

A binaural beats download is a recording that introduces tones of different frequencies with a set of headphones. The brain senses this frequency differential and adjusts its own brainwave frequency to that differential. The binaural beats downloads are designed so that the differential is in the alpha-theta frequency ranges of 4-8 hz and 8-12 hz. These are the ranges where you can enter the subconscious mind.

By making positive affirmations while in the subconscious state, we can now begin to have a more permanent and lasting effect for overcoming low self esteem.

The beauty of a binaural beats download is that they are easy to use, don’t require a long training period, and can have an immediate effect. Binaural recordings can also be used to overcome addictions (smoking, for example), cure insomnia, build confidence, and inspire creativity and problem-solving.

Go to this site and try a free sample binaural beats mp3 to see how you can use binaural beats and meditation to start improving your self esteem. It’s easy to do and you will be pleasantly surprised at the progress you will make if you stick to a regular schedule of meditation.

There are a wide variety of binaural beats downloads available and you can try all of them to find the ones that work best for you.

How to Break Your Bad Habits

We all have bad habits that we need to break. Some of us drink, some of us smoke, and some of us may do other things that we need to stop. Many people would like to quit and kick their problems and habits to the curb. But sadly many of us simply don’t know how and cannot afford a personal life coach. The good news is you don’t need a personal life coach to take care of the monkey on your back.

You can kick whatever problems you have yourself; all it takes is some determination and focus. Most people when confronted with trying to get rid of a bad habit say they can’t do it alone, that they are unable to, and that they cannot live without the problem. The simple fact of the matter is that they can live without it and they are strong enough to stop. Let’s take cigarettes for example, many people smoke them and you don’t need a government official to tell you that they are bad for you.

People make the choice to smoke, but there’s a difference between smoking every once in a while and becoming addicted to it. You may have a variety of reasons for wanting to stop smoking. You may have a new baby on the way, want to get healthier, or just stop and put the money towards something else. What’s important is that you can do it without medications, treatments, or substitutes.

You can do this by simply having unyielding determination and faith in yourself. Faith is something that seems to be lacking in many people and I’m not talking about the religious kind. Many people think that faith and religion are the same thing but that is not the case. Having absolute faith in yourself that you can do anything and get rid of any habit is essential to solving the problem.

The unyielding determination part comes into effect when the withdraw symptoms occur. You may get the urge to smoke, resume overeating, or whatever else it is that you are trying to get rid of. When that happens you need to remind yourself why you are doing this and what the rewards are. It’s not an easy thing to do but you can do it.

Some people may choose to do a step down program rather than quitting outright altogether. When doing something like that it’s best to have a timetable to follow and make sure you tell a close friend or relative. Doing this will help you immensely as they will ask you at the appointed dates if you are still on track.

If you can keep it up for a couple months then your habit will be broken. Some people want a quicker solution than this but you cannot rush breaking yourself of a learned and comfortable behavior. Failure to get rid of the issue completely may make it come back in the future.

When breaking a bad habit remember to never give in to the urge to resume it. No matter how much it may hurt physically or psychologically it’s important to continue to see it through. There will be some tough days, but the pain will purify you and you’ll come out stronger for it.

Personal Development – How To Be Creative

The route to becoming creative is not easy and that is why most people shy away and would rather leave things as they are. But it is good to realize that people that have impacted the world positively are those who have gone against the norm to defy all odds and change things. The human brain has been designed to be imaginative especially when pushed to a corner. Therefore, when things seem tough rather than running away, seek to find a solution.

There are things you can do to enable your mind become creative and the first is overcome the fear of failure. As much as it is easier to sit back and do what you are supposed to do, risk and think outside the box. Do not worry what others will say or how you will persuade others. With time when they see things working out they will be convinced.

Even when everything seems to be going on well, always seek to be creative. This is because when things start going bad there is usually not enough time to come up with a solution. By thinking ahead you will activate your brains towards creativity.

Since one cannot be sure of the results of being innovative, some people are afraid of being creative. Realize that most of the time the new ideas we come up with are not normally logical hence evaluate your ideas rather than ignore them. Even when people consider your creative ideas erroneous to not give up on them until you try them out.

Creativity is the route to personal growth and hence self development. Strive to activate your mind’s creative side and with time you will achieve self improvement.

Normal Stress Versus Anxiety Disorders – When Should You Call For Help?

Everyone has experienced symptoms of stress at one time or another. Speaking in public, taking a final exam, planning a wedding, and many other situations can bring on stress for just about everyone. The symptoms of stress can vary, but commonly include a pounding heart, perspiration, upset stomach, headache, shortness of breath, fatigue and insomnia. Under normal health conditions these symptoms subside once the situation ends.

Psychiatrists believe there are anxiety disorders which are caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain or excessive environmental stress. This syndrome can be characterized by continual apprehension and fretting that begins to interfere with your life and relationships. When this occurs, it may be out of your control and time to seek professional help.

If you cannot help yourself from experiencing excessive, constant worry about everyday issues like work, health, school and relationships, you may have generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Another common characteristic is frequent dread over unlikely “what if” scenarios. Seeking treatment for this condition is important, especially if it has been ongoing for several months.

Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is the term used for social phobias. If you often experience strong feelings of apprehension or even panic in social situations, or the idea of meeting even one new person typically sends you into paroxysms of dread, it’s wise to discuss these symptoms with a physician.

Some people have frequent “panic attacks,” where the above symptoms come on suddenly and forcefully. Panic attacks are a characteristic of most of these illnesses, but if you have them one or more times a day, you may be affected by panic disorder (PD).

Uncontrollable, and often irrational, angst about a specific topic or topics are called “obsessions.” Those who have obsessive thoughts may engage in repetitive activities, “compulsions,” to reduce their worry. These two symptoms comprise obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). For instance, a person may have constant thoughts that they are contaminated, and thus may bathe repeatedly but never feel clean. If you find yourself suffering from obsessive thoughts or repetitive behaviors that interfere with your ability to lead a normal life, a physician can offer help and hope.

Most people are aware of post traumatic stress (PTSD) as it relates to war veterans, but this condition can affect anyone who has experienced a highly traumatic event. If you are unable to keep yourself from replaying a troubling event from your past again and again in your mind, or experience frequent nightmares or even flashbacks, you do not have to continue to live with this pain alone. There are many support groups and treatment options available to help.

It is important to note that these conditions may manifest themselves differently than how they are described here. A person may exhibit symptoms for more than one of these ailments. Clinical depression symptoms can be present along with other symptoms, as these types of conditions are strongly related. Only qualified professionals should diagnose and treat these serious illnesses.

If you are diagnosed with any of the above illnesses, your counselor or psychiatrist may use a number of techniques, like positive self talk or breathing exercises, to help you learn to cope with your condition. Psychiatric medication may be prescribed to help treat the chemical imbalance in the brain. There are many different medications available, and it may be necessary for you to try several before your physician can identify the one that works best.

These conditions can be overwhelming and devastating for both the afflicted person and their family. However, with the right treatment and perhaps with medication as well, many of those who suffer from these conditions are able to lead happy, productive lives.

Seeking Wholeness – The Balance of Feminine and Masculine Energies

Entering into a new year and a new decade is a great time for us to reflect on ourselves and to use our insight to optimize our lives.

We all have a mix of masculine and feminine energies in a dynamic state of movement.

The masculine energies are characterized by linearity, orientation to goals, and mental focus.

The feminine energies are circular, concerned by feeling and emotion, and they expand the mind.

Instead of seeing these energies as gender specific, we can shift the paradigm by seeing these as how the Divine has taken consciousness. The play of consciousness is that it lives in ways that are always pulsing between contraction and expansion. Indeed, we directly experience this pulsation in our lives. Whether we know it or not, this pulsation is happening microscopically in each of our cells and cosmically in the life of the universe.

When you cease to label these energies and reject associated cultural biases, you distill them to pure energy. You then can see and operate at the spiritual level.

The process of self reflection can be one in which you contemplate and journal about how these primary energies manifest in your life. What is your tendency when managing your job, handling family matters, and relating to other people? Again, we all have a mix of these energies and the proportion changes with every context. There are, however, distinct patterns that emerge if you only begin to become aware of them and then articulate them.

Having explored and then discovered your patterns in the way that you live your life, you can achieve a more fulfilling life by balancing your energies.

You will have a preference about how you do things in your life. We are all creatures of habit. The question is, “are these habits serving your vision in the highest way?” If not (this is the self reflection piece), it is up to you to cultivate that energy that is suppressed or undeveloped in order to integrate your self. For example, when you find that you tend to place high value on your feelings rather than on analysis when arriving at a decision, you can begin to find integration by bringing your mind into play. You are invited to integrate these energies into a divinely synchronized pulsation.

Practice attuning to a bigger energy that holds all of these energies within you. The more that you remember the source of everything within you, the easier it will be to align these energies in ways that bring greater harmony to your life. A great indicator of enhanced harmony is when you experience a deeper sense of peace and fulfillment in the application of this practice. A deeper intuition and intelligence will sense when your energies have reached a dynamic balance and you will have reached that long awaited sense of wholeness that every human being innately seeks.

This is the way of a balanced life. The integration of the primary energies of the universe into a divine relationship. May you continue to remember to align with your highest part in ways that bring greater harmony to all the parts of you.

All That Stand Between You and Success is the Fear of Failure

Are you the type of person who wins or loses most of the situations that you are involved in? If you feel that you have lost more times than you would have liked in the last year, you need to ask yourself how many times you did everything within your power to win. Most probably, you rarely do everything that you can to maximize your chances of success in the situations then you find yourself in. If that is the case, then you only have yourself to blame for not seeing the success that you desire.

So, what is the biggest thing that is currently holding you back from going all out and playing to win? Your answer is most likely the same as the answer given by the vast majority of people, or at least a variation on it, which is fear of failure. Ask yourself – How many times in your life have you bailed out of a situation, or sat back and been a spectator, just because failure was an unbearable option?

This fear is literally stealing opportunities from you. Opportunities will always continue to present themselves, but whilst you keep on holding back, you will never be able to fully seize them. Even a slight fear of failure is sufficient enough, as not giving everything you have puts you at a serious disadvantage.

Your fortune is sealed the moment that you submit to your fear of failure. By not even trying, how can you ever hope to win? The thing is, by getting involved, you nearly always have a chance of winning, even if it is a small one. You might be the underdog, but how many times have you seen the underdog beat the favorite before? Life is unpredictable, and the underdogs regularly have their days.

The often cited phrase “Aim for the moon, at least if you miss you will be among the stars” is more than just a cliche. Keep it mind always, because there is a lot of truth in it. By chasing the big opportunities that arise, you will be pushing yourself to be the best that you can possibly can be, and by doing that you will be in a better position in failing than you would in if you had done nothing at all. You might not always get exactly what you were aiming for, but the second and third prizes are often worthwhile.

Your self-confidence will improve by following this approach and so will the confidence that others have you in, as they will see you as being someone with a positive, can-do attitude, which is the type of attitude that others like to be around, and like to believe in. Whilst you should not be overly concerned with what others think of you, it is not something to be ignored either. By having support from others, you will have people to lean on and give you a boost the next time that you are aiming for the moon, and that little extra could be just what you need to see you get there.

A Successful Life Begins With You Being Positive

The key to success and failure is the same – attitude. If you were to analyze the lives of 95% of people, you would see that most of them have an attitude geared towards failure. So, the question must be asked, why do so many people have such an attitude?

All of us are familiar with the phrase “You are what you eat”, and there is a lot of truth in that. Most of us are happy to acknowledge that, indeed, “We are what we eat”, because it is quite easy to quantify. We are able to literally see the results that years of eating poor food has on the body. It goes beyond just what you eat though, and the saying “You are what you consume”, which includes everything in your life that ‘feeds’ your mind, is more apt. If eating junk food is clearly bad for your body, then just think what happens to your mind when you constantly give it junk emotions and information to process.

Phrases such as “We are the masters of our own destiny” and “We are the bringers of our own fate” are also familiar to most, but they have remained very much in the abstract, all a little bit ‘airy fairy’, due to the relative impossibility to ‘see’ the effects that our thoughts have on our lives. Now though, with advances in medicine and quantum physics, it is becoming increasing possible to scientifically measure the effects that come from the negativity that many people surround themselves in.

One recent experiment from the HeartMath Institute had people direct their feelings of anger, stress, love or peace at pristine DNA. The results they found were staggering. When feelings of anger or stress were directed at the DNA, the DNA tightened and emitted photons of light. When feelings of love or peace were directed at the DNA, the DNA opened or unwound and attracted light to it.

If we are to believe the findings of quantum physics, that everything in the universe is simply energy, vibrating at a certain frequency, then this makes perfect sense. So, how can this help you you? Well, the experiment suggests that how you feel has an effect on the other forms of life and energy around you, and the more positive and relaxed you are, the more open they will be, and the better your interactions with them.

Therefore, you should adopt a positive, can-do attitude at all times, from the moment you wake-up, until the moment that you go to sleep. By living like that, you can expect life to be more positive to you in return, and that continued positivity will quickly translate itself into success. It would be wrong to dismiss this advice, as not only is there practical evidence to back it up, in the form of the attitudes displayed by those who are already successful, there is now also scientific evidence to back it up too, in the form of the experiment discussed above, and also ones similar to it. What more proof could you want?

Secrete to Success is Within You & Not Outside

Man has two creations, that brought about by his creator and the second creation of self. These creations are analogous to a car; a car is manufactured and presented to a driver. The second creation is learning to drive that car; and either making it a habit to plan every new journey before starting off, or start off with no plan at all. When the planned route is known and becomes common-place, man just drives through with little effort of his conscious mind.

Hence, according to simple universal law, to accomplish great things, we must not merely act by taking off from without. Taking off from a haphazard base does not just cut it, as you’d be going against universal law.

Your weaknesses make you a creature of circumstances, whereas your strengths make you the creator of circumstances. Your weaknesses force you to take life the way it comes to you; but when you dream and plan; act and believe; you can design your life to come to you the way you want it. As Jim Rohn says, “Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better.”

Mahatma Gandhi once said “No matter how insignificant the thing you have to do, do it as well as you can, give as much of your care and attention as you would give to the thing you regard as most important.” For it will be by those small things that you’d be able to design your life to come to you the way you want.

How does one become prosperous?

Every individual is unique; there is no one secret to success! Success is within every individual; therefore one cannot seek for success outside oneself.

Here’s an old Hindu story. I may be paraphrasing it a little bit because I don’t remember it exactly. But its message is truly appropriate at this point.

Shortly after the beginning of man, the gods were debating on where to hide man’s divine essence in order to prevent him from ever discovering who he really is (either out of jealousy or fear of mutiny, I suppose). So one day, the deities conferred with Brahma, the godhead, and said, “We should hide it at the peak of the highest mountains.” Brahma answered, “No, for man will eventually go there and find it.” “Let’s hide it deep inside the darkest forests,” another suggested, “or how about the lowest depths of the ocean? Surely, man will never go there,” another one added. “No,” Brahma retorted, “man will eventually find it there also.” Perplexed, the gods asked Brahma, “Where, then?” “We shall hide it where man will never think of looking for it,” Brahma replied. “We will hide it deep within their own selves.”

The only best way to engender success is by ensuring our base of take off is organized. It therefore follows that, given the knowledge of how to create an organized base on which to take off from, not everyman will take off in much the same way, because of individual uniqueness and will power.

So what’s this springboard base of success?

1. Thought – this is the one thing that makes man realize his circumstances. It is man’s point of contact with his environment, upon which he begins to imagine how best to deal with what he faces before him. This is what advances man, as for with thought, man can believe; as for with thought, man can nurture his mind to grow higher from his present state. With this thought, man realizes that he is, where he is, simply because of his beliefs.

With thought, man comes to realize that his failure or success did not come overnight; but by a series of positive or negative successful incremental deeds.

It is universal law!

Whatever man’s circumstances, “richer than rich or poorer than poor”, man can move in either direction. Theron Dumont once said, “Anything within the universe is within your grasp. Just use your latent powers and it is yours”. You are aided by both visible and invisible when you concentrate on either “to do” or “to be.” The amount of effort it takes to fail is the same amount of effort it takes to succeed as far as the mind is concerned. It is your responsibility to provide it with the right seeds of thought. It is your “Will” to do or not to do… see my point; it is the same either way.

Prosperity is not the preserve of the rich or the well to do!

According to William George, “no man is so poor that he cannot begin to pay for what he wants…”, and every small, individual payment that he makes, universal law recognises, stores and accumulates for him a reserve fund in his hour of need. With Nature, every single positive successful deed he expends daily in right-doing is all stored for him and transmuted in strength and prosperity unexpectedly in the hour of need.

Universal Law is “JUST” to every single man whether rich or poor, otherwise – this would be an injustice to the poor and to the weak. So you can make yourself as you please through thought.

2. Knowledge – this is “the what to do” and “the why” after realising one’s own environment and circumstances. Knowledge helps one equip oneself with the best tools available in the present time to deal with the situation at hand whilst acquiring new tools that will be required in the future. With this knowledge, man is circumspect of the fact that, if the mind is not nurtured with positive thoughts, he would never grow any higher than he thinks.

3. Calmness – Calmness is the mental state of being free from agitation, excitement, or disturbance. Every person can experience calmness during a state of relaxation, but very rare in much more alert and aware states. This is a powerhouse that eludes man. Scientists say man loses 80% of his intelligence when he gets angry or afraid. Would you imagine that? Eighty percent drop in effective intelligence!

Every time a person is angry or in fear, is operating under duress and cannot perform effectively. This is why they advise never to drive when angry until you calm down. Another example is in the office, a person can be fully capable and trained for a role, but in his new role and in a different setting, he flounders. Why…? Fear! Fear incapacitates his intelligence to 20%.

So find a way to attenuate anger and fear to operate at your optimum, it should not be a one off exercise, just like in the gym, keep on working on attenuating anger and fear. You would be surprised what good comes out of this. Calmness is a quality that can be cultivated and increased with practice. It usually takes a trained mind to stay calm in the face of a great deal of different stimulation, and possible distractions, especially emotional ones. According to Wikipedia illustration on Calmness, it explains that “The negative emotions are the greatest challenge to someone who is attempting to cultivate a calm mind”.

Some disciplines that promote and develop calmness are yoga, relaxation training, breath training, and meditation.

4. Self-confidence and self-reliance – According to William George, “Self?confidence, without self?reliance, is as useless as a cooking recipe, without food. Self?confidence sees the possibilities of the individual; self?reliance realizes them. Self?confidence sees the angel in the unhewn block of marble; self?reliance carves it out for himself”. The man who is self?reliant seeks ever to discover and conquer the weakness within him that keeps him from the attainment of what he holds dearest; he seeks within himself the power to battle against all outside influences.

5. The last but in exhaustive list from me is (P3=P), purpose + passion + persistence = Prosperity.

When you practice and maintain these seemingly simple and obvious disciplines, prosperity is inevitable. These of course are not exhaustive elements but will produce tremendous results when combined with elements such as goal setting and personal mission statements.
